Maniac and Holdem? Wondering what exactly are we talking about? Well, maniacs are everywhere but these are not like the ones you are thinking of. In the game of Holdem you can find maniac players who are very aggressive in their game and go on to put a lot of chips at stake. These guys just drive other players nuts by their frequent betting and bet raising strategy.

It’s something which most Holdem players hate. However, for experts this is the kind of player they would love to have at the table as if you are able to read them well, you can earn a lot of profit from these guys. In ordinary terms a maniac can be termed as a loose aggressive player who kind of puts pressure on every pot. He would normally make huge bets on pre-flop and would raise and would exploit any weakness sign they notice. If well read, these are the players who are easy to deceive.

Observe the table and make sure that you identify the maniac. Don’t just confuse a loose player to be a maniac. There are very close resemblances but both are just not the same. At times you will find loose player who are not afraid to put chips in the pot but will back down if they don’t hit the flop and they do sense the strength in their opponent.

What sets the maniac apart from others is that these guys just keep throwing chips on every hand they play. Another thing to consider is the players style. Ask yourself the question like, is he as aggressive always or has he had a stroke of luck and has all the best hands?

After you identify the maniac, try to stay away from them as long as you get a premium hand. These are the guys who would jump at any sign of weakness and this is where you can exploit them Since they normally throw in huge stakes, its ideal for you to win a good amount.

If you are able to create an image of a weak player rather than raising, simply because raising will warn the maniac, you will be able to grab a big one. This is especially true for no-limit Texas holdem. You should have a couple of buy in as reserve just in case you encounter a maniac. It’s worth the effort. If played well, you can be sure of getting back all the money that you lost (if you have) or can make huge profits.

The idea behind playing a maniac in Holdem is that most of the players are scared and would back down and will let the maniac win just because the stakes are high. You could also try your hands at being a maniac, however, just make sure that you switch gears in case any of your opponents stand up to you. If you execute it confidently, you can be assured to pool in a lot of money from the pot.
