Most of my articles are aimed at players with something to learn. Whilst we all have something we can learn from poker it is clear that many experts already play No Limit Texas Hold’em. It certainly appears that experts abound if my experiences at the online poker tables are anything to go by. You will have heard about Deuces Cracked, Stox Poker and Pokervt with Daniel Negreanu. Virtual interactive Poker coaching is becoming huge and virtual sites offering streamed video are flowing into the market. If you are an expert player, you can still get in on the action and offer a great service to your players, with the use of software programs that are perfected suited to aid your coaching.

Using two fantastic programs that you can download for free (at the time of writing) you can interact with players better than ever before from virtually anywhere in the world that is connected to the Internet. Your student can have you teach them how to play poker as if you were there in person. Combining the use of technology and Poker to improve skills is not a new concept. Poker training websites (criticised for making the general poker public a little too good for some players liking) are using video streaming technology to connect to their customers. It makes for an engaging and interactive experience. Like many things in life, however, there are certain benefits that come from being face to face, even in a virtual sense.

Without further ado, the two programs you can use to connect with your students are Team Viewer and Skype. These programs are free to use, although there are certain add-ons when using Skype that will enhance your use of it. These add-ons include a web cam and a microphone, which will cost you the equivalent of a couple of tournament buy-ins if you choose to buy the products at the value end of the market.

Teamviewer is a piece of software that allows you to connect remotely and control your student’s computer. The student gives you a pass code and username generated by team viewer so you effectively “take over” the computers function remotely. The student can terminate at any time. Many businesses use technology like this to fix small computer errors and it allows you, the coach, to view the players screen and therefore their hole cards. The use of this program is not to play for the student but as you can see their hole cards you can offer real advice based on live situations. Forming part of a larger coaching package including hand history replaying and review, which the program can also be used for, this massively improves the delivery of coaching making it better value for money for your students. No matter where you are in the world you can coach the student as if you are with them in person.

Skype increases the interpersonal aspect of the coaching session and by being able to see and hear the coach via webcam and free Skype calling it allows a more real connection between the coach and player. Hopefully over time the relationship will grow so that the coach can really learn the players approach to the game and from their expertise guide the player to play a much better standard of poker. Seeing a person on screen is far better than it being a voice.

If you are a great poker player this can be another way of making poker more profitable for you. Coaching can earn between $50 and $500 an hour if you have a good reputation. It is fun and a great way of passing on knowledge and being rewarded for that knowledge. If you are a player wishing to learn how to play better poker, then find a coach and suggest the use of this technology to enhance your coaching sessions.
