Jennifer Harman was born in Reno, Navada, so no wonder she is a professional American poker player. She was born and raised in Reno where she began playing poker at the young age of eight. She wanted to play poker professionally due to her father who she had not been in contact with for quite a while, but it seems like they have been reacquainted. Jennifer went on to graduate from the University of Nevada in Reno and is currently married to a stylist, Marco Traniello, who is also known as a poker player as well.
Harman won her very first WSOP bracelet during the 2000 World Series of Poker No limit Deuce to Seven Lowball event. Prior to the WSOP event, Harman had never indulged in this game, but was able to make it to the final table and take home the winnings from her very short tutoring session of the game before beginning to play.
Her second WSOP bracelet came in 2002 at the $5,000 Limit Hold ‘em main event. Jennifer Harman has the reputation of being the only woman in the professional poker playing industry to have achieved two World Series of Poker bracelets during WSOP open events, which is a huge accomplishment for her.
Jennifer Harman is a true spirit and survivor. She has had two kidney transplants; her second being in 2004 when she took a whole year off from playing poker. Her mother and sister both passed away when Harman was 17 from kidney illnesses. Once she received this second kidney transplant, she founded a non-profit organization that would raise money and awareness for the kidney disease cause, Creating Organ Donation Awareness also known as CODA.
After her second transplant, she returned to the circuit and had a 4th place finish in the World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic, 2nd in the World Series of Poker Circuit Championship Event at the Rio, as well as a 5th place finish at the Professional Poker Tour event. She has also had success in authoring a chapter in the Super System II book.
Harman has appeared on High Stakes Poker as well as the NBC series Poker After Dark where she took the first place finish in the week 8 tournament. She finished second place at the WSOP Europe in 2007 and is currently a member of Team Full Tilt, which is a subsidiary of Full Tilt Poker. Her live tournament winnings as of 2008 are expected to have exceeded $2 million.
