Born in New York, currently residing in Georgia, Josh Arieh was born in September of 1974. He is an American professional poker player and is married with three children. Arieh has been playing poker since 1999 and competing in professional events. Josh is known to be a tough high limit player, but he is also known to have very aggressive table talk and random play. He is very well known for being sure to put as much pressure as he possibly can on his opponents during poker play.
Josh has earned two World Series of Poker bracelets. The first was in 1999 during the $3,000 Limit Hold ‘em WSOP event where he earned a total of $202,800. The second WSOP bracelet was won at the 2005 $2,000 Pot Limit Omaha event where Josh earned winnings totaling $381,600 by defeating opponent, Chris Ferguson.
At the 2000 World Series of Poker event, Arieh finished 2nd place in the Poker Pot Limit Omaha event to Johnny Chan. Josh Arieh has played in many other live tournaments and has had several other television appearances. He is known in the Atlanta area, his hometown, to be a very tough high limit player and has been playing there for well over 12 years. He has competed in over 20 of the high buy-in tournaments with buy-ins equaling $10,000 or more.
During the 2004 World Series of Poker $10,000 main event, Josh finished 3rd. He has also competed in the World Poker Tour where in 2004 at the Borgata $10,000 No Limit Hold ‘em he finished in 3rd place. He is also known for second place finish in 2003 at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo.
It is said that Josh hit a royal flush in a video game poker event in 2005 where he won a total of $100,000 for the royal flush. Arieh’s live earnings as of 2006 were to exceed $3.7 million. As of 2008, Josh has started playing poker online at Full Tilt Poker. At least online, it is harder to put that pressure on his opponents, but his table talk can still go a long way.
