Average Guy Becomes Big Shot
Colclough is about as average of a guy as there is. Before becoming a professional poker player Dave had obtained a degree in Information Technology. For about two decades Dave was a computer programmer for several companies. He was born March 4th 1964 in Carmarthen, Wales.
Dave, like many other professional poker players, has been playing since he was a child. However, until 1985 he didn’t realize how much he could make as a poker player. In that year he made a trip to a casino that became very successful. However, it wasn’t until 2000 that he actually started playing full time as a professional.
In 2000 Dave won his World Series of Poker. Unfortunatly he gave his bracelet away in a deal. He still to this day regrets trading out his bracelet. After the tournament Dave was on the brink of being forced back into computer programming. He invested the majority of his money into a club that went belly side up. Luckily right as the club went under he was able to hit several final tables in a row which helped him get back on his feet again. In 2005 Dave was put into the European Poker Players Hall of Fame. Besides just being in the hall of fame itself, he was the youngest person to ever be put into it at the age of 41.
Dave now resides in Birmingham, England with his daughter Sian. Since he can now make his own schedule, he does it to make sure he can spend plenty of time with his daughter. As of 2007 he is currently single as he caught his late wife cheating. Even though Dave has only been doing it since 200, he has currently won more than $2.4 million as a poker professional and has over 15 first place finishes.
