Born in December of 1985, this very young man is a very successful poker player from Odense, Denmark – Peter Eastgate. His most recent success is being the winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker main event.
When Eastgate won the no limit Texas Hold ‘em main event during the 2008 World Series of Poker, he became the youngest World Series of Poker main event champion. Beforehand, Phil Hellmuth was the youngest, who was 24 when he was the 1989 World Series of Poker champion. Peter Eastgate successfully won $9.1 million during this event as well as his World Series of Poker bracelet that is so important to all professional poker players. Everyone dreams of having one and this young 22 year old man has achieved a lot at such a young age already.
Before the 2008 World Series of Poker, Eastgate had finished in the money in the 2008 European Poker Tour in Copenhagen, his hometown, and during the 2007 Irish Poker Open, he had a final table finish. During the 2007 Paddy Power Irish Open, Eastgate won a total of $46,714 in winnings, which was his biggest win prior to the 2008 World Series of Poker finish as the champion.
Eastgate’s live tournament earnings, as of 2008, exceeded $9,200,000. Don’t think we have seen the last of this young man because he has a lot more to prove and a lot more money to win! Can you believe that this 22-year-old young man once had a decision to go to college, but he decided to go with his gut and pursue his poker career? Many probably thought this was a bad idea at the time of his making the decision; however, with winning the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, it definitely looks like it paid off!
