Freelancer Found Passion in Poker
For Roland poker has become more than just a job, it’s a hobby to him. Before finding the light of poker he had done multiple things. For a few years he actually played professional and semi-professional table tennis. He played in both the first and second German National League. On the side of that he had numerous fields of business that he did random freelance work for. He first found poker back in 1997 when a friend introduced him to it.
He was watching a good friend play in a major tournament in Germany and make a good amount of money off of it. Since then he’s been completely hooked. After the tournament he went searching for a job as a dealer. He found one at a local casino which would allow him to master the game. Finally after about a year of studying and playing he decided he wanted to do it professionally.
In 1998 he turned pro and never looked back. He averages somewhere between 250 and 300 days a year actually playing. In the last ten years he has been to more than 20 final tables in European tournaments. He plays both online and in person and has become one of Germany’s top recognizable players because of it. He prefers to play poker in person rather than online. This is because poker as a live sport is much more thrilling and most importantly you can use all of your poker skills. Online you can’t watch and analyze your opponents to pick up tells. Roland can play any poker game but prefers cash Pot Limit Omaha games. Roland is also on Team German for the Poker Nations Cup as well. Since he started his tournament winnings total over $88,000. If you’re looking for Roland look for the cash games.
