Professional Chess Player Rustem Dautov Plays Poker
Rustem Dautov was born on November 28th, 1965. He is most popularly known for his success in chess, carrying a title of German chess Grandmaster and International Master. Dautov began his success by winning a championship for chess in 1983 in the USSR U18.
From there he entered into the military service in the sports department of the Soviet Army. He also played in chess tournaments in the military and won the FIDE International Master title in 1989. The following year he won the Grandmaster title.
In 1996 he joined the German national team and has helped them get to five different Chess Olympiads. He participated in many tournaments after this including the German Chess Championship, the FIDE World Chess Championship in 2002 and the FIDE Championship in 2004.
In recent years he has begun playing professional poker. In fact, many professional chess players are switching to poker. Joining Rustem Dautov is Matthias Wahls, also a German chess Grandmaster. These chess masters have been practicing strategies for many years, and hope that their skills in chess can be related to poker.
Many chess players stay on online games. Many realize that online gaming has many perks. Players get to stay at home while making money, and they don’t have to face their opponent live. Many believe that the tactics used in chess can also be applied to poker. Another advantage is the vast amounts of money that can be gathered once a player has gotten good. One player can bring in hundreds of dollars in a night, depending on what stakes they are playing with.
Rustem Dautov has now become a member of the PokerStrategy faculty. He is now the administrator for the Russian version of PokerStrategy. He performs interviews with many people who have converted from chess to poker playing. Although he is doing this, his still plays chess regularly at the German Chess Bundesliga for OSC Baden-Baden and for the Swiss National League A with the chess club Lucerne.
