Rodion Cherednichenko is 38 and has already made himself a place in high earning poker players. He plays only in small tournaments and the nearby casino, but he is an excellent player. Rodion is married and has three children. Besides making money from poker he is also a computer game developer and a manager for a motor oil recycling company. His software development is associated with the famed worldwide game World of Warcraft. When he’s not working Rodion likes to wake board, water-ski, snow board, and motorbike.
His biggest win was in EPT No Limit Hold’em in which he won $103,028. From the start he was a large chip holder and had double the chips compared to the rival below him. Because he is not entirely all that popular, many people underestimate him. Some players thought he was going to foolishly throw his chips away, but he played wisely. Instead he held on to them for a while.
His ending hand was against Daniel Dodet. Dodet had a pair of nines and one was a heart. Rodion had a ten and jack for top pair. The flop was all hearts with a ten, a three, and an eight. Dodet went all in and Rodion called. A queen of hearts came on the river and Dodet took the pot.
This was the only major win for Rodion, but he is still playing with smaller stakes. Some players, especially in online play, have found that playing low stakes is one of the best ways to build up cash for a new player. Starting off with one to five cent games, people build up a small amount of money into larger sums and move up the ladder. What many people don’t realize is that this is fairly easy since most players at the stage are very inexperienced. A little practice and experience can get just about any one into high stakes poker.
