Shy Guy Playing Nice…But To Win!
Christer (Chris) Björin is a Swedish poker player that is now base din London, England. Chris has kept a pretty low profile on his personal life and has made it tough to find out the juice on him for all the fans. He has avoided interviews and even televised events. The limited amount of coverage on Chris has not changed the fact that he is one of the most influential names in the UK poker scene.
One of the more endearing things about Bjorin is his gentle manners, he is considered quite the gentleman and even at the table remains flawless in his etiquette skills and shows complete courteous to the other players.
Bjorin has been a regular at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) since the early 1990’s. Chris has two WSOP bracelets for his winnings; the first one is from a 1997 $1500 pot Limit Omaha event where he walked away with $169,200. The second was from a 2001 $3000 No-Limit Hold’ Em where he walked away with a cool $334,110.
Bjorin has had a good standing record for walking away a winner. Chris competed in the $5000 buy in Hall of Fame Poker Classic Championship in 2002 with 54 other players that included some of the top notch players like Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Erik Seidle. Bjorin made it to the top twenty as the only non American player with three wins all in different games and he managed to make it to seven No-Limit Hold’ em final tables.
Bjorin also placed 11th at the 2003 L.A. Poker Classic tour in the $10,000 buy in for the No-Limit Hold’ em event where he competed against 136 players with a total prize pool of $1,360,000 and walked away with $21,355 of the prize.
Bjorin has competed in the World poker Tour (WPT) but never made it to a final table as of yet, but with the steady play he has shown, it may not be long before we see him at the final table. Bjorin was cited as the “Nice Guy” award winner for the “millionth straight year”, by fellow players.
Bjorin has made a living on sports betting and still continues to do so while he is not at the table. You may see the young son Elon Bjorin at the table soon, as Chris’s son has expressed interest in playing professional tournament poker. As of 2008, Bjorin has a total live tournament winnings that exceed $3,800,000.
