Erik Sagstrom was born in 1983 in Linkoping, Sweden. The young professional poker player found his new professional by accident. While he was surfing the net one day at the age of 17 he ran across an online poker site and began to play, he soon became one of  the most successful online poker players in the world.

Sagstrom can be found playing poker at many different online poker sites. Erik has his user names as The Salmon and Erik123, the Erik123 name has brought attention to him, where people have thought him to be Erik Seidel while playing at the high stakes tables. Sagstrom has been involved with such projects as setting up an online poker card room called PokerChamps.com that included the help and  participation of Gus “The GreatDane” Hansen and Tony Guoga.

In May 2006, Sagstrom was involved in a tournament with Liz Lieu, it was high publizied and the anticipation for fans was strong as the series of three $200,000 Limit Texas Hold’ em matches held at The Venetian, Sagstrom made a good showing on one hand but ultimately lost the set 2-1 to Liz Lieu.

Sagstrom has competed in many events that include playing in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), World Poker Tour (WPT), and the European Poker Tour (EPT), even though he has participated in many live events, he is still best known for his online poker record. Sagstrom had his largest tournament cash when he walked away a winner in Event #4 of the 2003 Championship of Online Poker, where he trampled over 1.357 other players to take home winnings of $101,850.

Ken Lennaard chose Sagstrom to represent Sweden in both the Poker Nations Cup and the PartyPoker.com Football & Poker Legends Cup.
As of 2008, Sagstroms total live tournament winnings are in excess of $160,000
