Ingermar Backman was born April 1st 1976 in Gallivare, Sweden. Ingemar is a professional snowboarder who made himself famous by setting the world record for the highest air out of a quarter-pipe, an astounding 8.5 meters was accomplished in 1996 in Riksgransen, Sweden. While Ingemar found his 15 minutes of fame with his astonishing record, it has since been broken twice, first by Heikki Sorsa with a 9.3 meter high air at the Arctic Challenge that was help in Oslo in 2001. The second time the record was broken was by Norwegian Terje Haakonsen who blew everyone away with an incredible high air of 9.8 meters during the Artic Challenge held in Oslo in 2007.
After Ingemar finished snowboard high school located in Malung, Sweden, he soon became the first snowboarding superstar that emerged out of Sweden. He was followed in this fascinating trend by fellow boarders, Daniel Franck and Johan Olofsson. Ingemar had a residence in San Diego, California in the United States but has settled back in his home located in Skelleftea, Sweden.
