Keep yourself occupied by watching the action going on at the table if you are in a live game. There is a lot of information that you can pick up from other players. Focus on this while trying to find a hand. If you are online, one thing I do to keep patient is to play a second game or even a couple of additional games. This keeps me focused and playing solid.
