Hello,
I’m just thinking, what are your thoughts about showing other players your cards whenever for an instance they fold or you don’t have to show them in accordance to the rules?
I heard showing your cards when you don’t have to won’t bring anything good. But I’ve also heard that if in case you play tight at the start and show your good cards even when you don’t have to, you can effectively bluff more than usual. By showing your cards, your opponents might think you only play premium hands. So which one is true?
Thanks in advance.
Drew
Drew,
There are arguments for both not showing your hands and for showing them. When you show your hands, you give your opponents additional information about how you play. You can also use showing your hands as a way to either intimidate or throw you opponent off. An example would be showing a bluff after a big raise to rub in the fact you won with a bluff. This may force extra action from that player the next time you really have a hand against them.
You can also use showing your hands to give off the type of information you want. For examples, late in tournaments I only show my really strong hands that don’t get action. As a result, I usually only get called late in a tournament by a stack I can’t hurt, or by someone who has me dominated.
